Aubrey and Matt met at Ithaca College. They were in the same Freshman Orientation group. Matt fell for Aubrey instanly! He turned to his friend Mark Hegdlin, aka Chubbs,  and said, "I am going to date that girl!"  By January,  Aubrey was happy to oblige.

Fast forward 6 years and to a new city, Boston. Matt wanted to take Aubrey out for a nice dinner after a long and stressful week at work.  They were "early" for their  dinner reservation so he asked if she wanted to walk through the Boston Common. He was acting a bit strange and nervous. They walked through the Common and sat at the first bench they found. Matt had started to explain how much he cared for her. It was very sweet and romantic, but there was a huge flood light shining in their eyes, so they had to pick a different bench.  They started toward the next bench, where Matt again began to tell Aubrey  how he felt. But this bench was not working either as bugs started to attack! So they moved to another bench, and another and then one more until they found the perfect one!  Finally situated, Matt told Aubrey  that he had a confession to make. He explained that back at Freshman Orientation he had not told Chubbs he was going to "date that girl", he had in fact said he was," going to marry that girl".  He  got down on one knee and asked Aubrey to marry him. She started crying.  Later, she even had to ask Matt if she had said "yes!"  Of course she had.
